After 42 hours of negotiations, the countries of the European Union (EU) have managed to close an agreement on the reform of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), which will regulate European agriculture between 2023 and 2027. The European Ministers of Agriculture greenlighted the three regulations that make up this reform: that of the National Strategic Plans, that of the common organization of markets, and the regulation on the financing of aid.
As part of the global review, FAO is conducting an online survey to collect information on the range of insurance products and services for fisheries and aquaculture offered worldwide, as well as the opportunities and challenges faced by the insurance industry supporting these sectors. The results will complement the global review study.
Climate change has presented additional risks to agricultural production and to farming enterprises. We are faced with erratic rains, hail, unpredictable disease outbreaks and dry spells that affect the general performance of the sector.

Agriculture, as an economic activity directly depends on the natural environment that is vulnerable to various phenomens of a biological nature (pests and diseases), climatic-environmental (climate change, droughts, floods ...), and economic (price volatility ... ). All of these make it necessary to apply for a strategic approach to the management of the inherent risks of this activity.
What we have ended up doing is using technology to give advice based on macro indicators. Most advice is not farmer-specific, though scientifically correct. The idea in this article is not to argue whether data is indeed as valuable as oil or to examine how big businesses make money from “big data”, but to make out a case for using data in the agriculture sector to further the prosperity and income of farmers.
Flood caused financial damages amounting to 30 trillion rials (about $714 million) only to Khuzestan province’s farming lands, Agriculture Minister Mahmoud Hojjati said. Horticulture, animal husbandry, apiculture and poultry farming have borne the most damages in agriculture sector, as some 600 poultry farms have been damaged across the country, he lamented.
