The district administration has estimated crop damage across 900 hectares caused by the recent unseasonal hail and rainfall in the Nandgaon taluka of Nashik district. On Saturday evening, parts of taluka received very heavy rain. Some places were also pelted with hail. This damaged the standing crop in fields that were ready to be harvested, officials from the district administration said.
"This cauliflower campaign was not the best, as poor weather conditions and heavy rainfall between November and December resulted in a loss of area of at least 30%, caused by flooding of the fields, which blocked harvesting. More than 500 days after Hurricane Michael flattened crops and livelihoods in southwest Georgia, a fresh infusion of emergency aid money is on its way. Top state officials on Wednesday announced a $347 million grant program aimed at farmers and landowners in 95 south Georgia counties who sustained major losses during the historic storm, which made landfall in October 2018 as a Category 5 behemoth.
Small groups of desert locusts were spotted on Abu Dhabi's Dalma Island, but they were exterminated as soon as the sighting was reported, authorities have said. The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (Adafsa) confirmed that its team surveyed a 6sq km area of farmland on the island and got rid of the small gatherings of locusts through fumigation.
Unseasonal rains with hailstorm over the past two days have caused massive damage to crops at several places in Bihar, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, officials said. According to Bihar government officials, rain and hailstorm in parts of south and north Bihar adjacent to Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday damaged flowering and fruiting oilseed, pulses, vegetables, tobacco crop, and blossoming mango orchards.
Potato farmers in Skagit County suffered big losses last fall after they were unable to harvest some of their crops as a result of early and heavy rainfall. An estimated 2,000 acres of potatoes — valued at $3,000 to $5,000 an acre — went unharvested this season, said Don McMoran, director of the Washington State University Skagit County Extension.

Mango production at Muthalamada in the current season is set to suffer heavily following a widespread attack by a kind of thrip locally known as Elappen. Agricultural officials said tests were being done to identify the thrips. Most pesticides being heavily experimented to manage the thrips are found to be ineffective.
