The two EO companies GeoVille and VITO together with the champion users from the agro-insurance sector are working closely together to find out more about the needs and challenges of the agro-insurance’s sector and how these might be addressed with the current and future EO capabilities. Based on the findings of the EO4I project, Ralf RYTER from GeoVille will elaborate on how EO may help overcome the difficulties faced by the agro-insurance sector, and Hansueli LUSTI, Vice-Director and Agricultural Engineer at Swiss Hail Insurance Company, will explain how geo-information can support the agro-insurance sector in the light of trends such as climate change.
AgroInsurance International, in partnership with Skyglyph, Planet and Swiss Re, hosted a joint webinar dedicated to forestry insurance and use of modern technologies for risk portfolio monitoring. More than 70 participants from 27 countries joined the webinar, contributing to the discussion by asking specific questions on technical aspects of forestry insurance.

As of today, the global number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 has exceeded 16 million. Most of insurance and reinsurance companies in Europe and Asia have suspended all non-essential international business travels for their employees until the end of the year 2020. Here at AgroInsurance International we feel responsible for the safety and health of our conference participants and guests. Thus, AgroInsurance team would like to confirm that the Conference has been rescheduled for April 19-21, 2021 because of our participants’ convenience and safety considerations.
Earlier announced new tentative conference dates (October 5-7, 2020) remain effective. Conference premises are fully suited for maintaining the required social distancing between the participants, as well as necessary disinfection measures applied by the hotel and dining locations. The next conference update is expected on July 20, 2020, following the opening of the international travel by Georgia, the European Union and Asian countries.
On June 9, 2020, AgroInsurance International and Skyglyph hosted a webinar “Drones: Technology enhancing agricultural insurance”. The webinar touched upon the use of remote sensing technologies with an accent on drones applied for crop insurance purposes. More than 60 online participants from 25 countries joined the webinar and contributed to the discussion by asking specific technical questions adding more insights from the customers on technical aspects of drones’ use.
