Standing crops in about 10,478 acres were damaged due to the recent heavy rains in Kothagudem district as per preliminary assessment, District Collector MV Reddy said on Tuesday.
In a statement here, he said agriculture and revenue officials were directed to carry out field visits to prepare a comprehensive report on the cross damage caused by floods in river Godavari and other rivers as well as the excess rainfall.
Farmer-wise crop loss data will be prepared for which village revenue officer and agriculture extension officer will be engaged at village level while Tahsildar and mandal agriculture officer would be engaged at mandal level.
A total of 90 teams of officials drawn from mandals like Pinapaka, Gundala, Manugur, Allapalli, Karakagudem, Burgampahad, Aswapuram and Cherla mandals situated on the Godavari banks and other mandals were formed, the Collector stated.
Data of farmers, who suffered 33 per cent or above crop loss, will be compiled and submitted to the government for further action. Agriculture officials were also told to prepare an action plan on alternate crops to be taken in the district and ensure supply of required seeds, Reddy added.
