The new law regulates relations between insurers and agricultural producers arising in the process of insurance in the agricultural sector, as well as the relations established between them and public authorities in connection with the subsidization of insurance premiums by the state (between the insurer, the policyholder, the beneficiary of the insurance, as well as the state in terms of subsidizing insurance premiums in agriculture).
Moldova's potato production has been severely affected by the dry weather. In fact, growers in the Briceni district are worried that they will lose a lot this year. They say that due to the lack of rainfall, the harvest will be three times lower than in previous years. To make matters worse, the pandemic will also affect these companies, because they don't have access to the foreign market and workers are hard to find.
According to a preliminary assessment of berry growers in the village of Kunicha (Dondusheni district), about 30-70% of the crops have been lost. Considering that the town has been producing and exporting up to 1 thousand tons of strawberries over the past few years, we can assume that the country's supply for the foreign market will be significantly reduced.
Drought is expected to take a toll on Moldova's autumn cucumber harvest. Growers say the production will be much lower than in previous years and, therefore, prices will have to increase. Some fruit and vegetable processors claim to have foreseen this situation and had closed supply contracts in early spring.
