The insurance claim payment process has been completed among farmers who have taken crop safety insurance under Aman Product-2025 in the coastal district of Barguna. Out of a total of 3,324 insured farmers, 2,483 farmers have received insurance benefits worth about 1.1 million taka.

As part of this program, insurance claims worth Tk 250,000 were paid to 593 farmers in Amtoli area on Tuesday.

BRAC Senior Program Manager BM Afzal Hossain and Upazila Agriculture Officer Mohammad Russell Hossain were present at the time and handed over the insurance money to the farmers.

Speaking at the event, Upazila Agriculture Officer Mohammad Russell Hossain said that although the government has been taking initiatives to introduce crop safety insurance for farmers for a long time, it has not been possible to implement it effectively. Farmers are receiving great support as this initiative is being implemented in risky areas like coastal Barguna through BRAC.

He further said that people's confidence in agriculture was decreasing due to the impact of climate change. Many farmers were moving away from farming due to natural disasters and various risks. In this situation, the crop insurance program has created new confidence among farmers and is playing an important role in dealing with risks.

He expressed gratitude to BRAC for its important contribution to the development of agriculture and farmers.

Also present at the event were BRAC Barguna Regional Manager Mahmudul Hasan, Area Manager Mohammad Saiful Islam, Extension Officers, and officials from various branches of BRAC Amtali Office.
