Interfel will exhibit at Fruit Attraction with 50 companies across 1,024 sq m, with new markets, climate adaptation, and fresh produce consumption among younger consumers on the agenda for France's fresh produce sector.
"Fruit Attraction is a key event for us, and this year it has a particularly special significance as we celebrate the association's 50th anniversary," says Daniel Soares, International Director at Interfel.
The stand will include a restaurant, kitchen, demonstration area, and activities including pétanque, caricatures, and a photo booth.
New markets and logistics challenges
Europe remains the main destination for French fruit and vegetable exports, accounting for 80% of the total. In the 2025–26 season, exports reached 2.23 million tonnes worth €3.38 billion. Interfel is also looking to develop other markets.
Mexico's opening to French apples in 2025 resulted in exports of around 300 tonnes. Exports to Asia increased 18% to 32,700 tonnes, including growth in India from around 3,600 to 7,600 tonnes and in China from 1,500 to more than 3,000 tonnes. The United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia are also target markets.
"The challenge is not simply to open up new markets, but to turn sanitary and phytosanitary access into stable trading relationships. Geopolitical developments are also forcing us to strengthen logistical resilience: disruption in the Red Sea has shown how quickly an international crisis can drive up costs and transit times," says Soares.
Climate adaptation
Interfel is also focusing on climate adaptation following periods of heat and drought in France.
"Summer 2026 has been exceptionally challenging in France. Climate adaptation has become a structural issue for us," says Soares. "However, the agroecological transition can only succeed if it is economically viable. We cannot expect producers to shoulder the full cost of this transformation: climate adaptation, competitiveness and food sovereignty must move forward together."
Measures include modernising irrigation, improving water storage, adapting greenhouse production, protecting crops from solar radiation, and researching varieties and production techniques.
Interfel is also continuing campaigns aimed at increasing fresh fruit and vegetable consumption, particularly among younger consumers.
Under the theme 'Produce, adapt and re-engage', the organisation is focusing on production capacity, generational renewal, and economic viability.
Interfel will exhibit at Fruit Attraction from 6 to 8 October in Hall 6.
