India - 100 acres of maize and jowar crops reduced to ashes in fire

Farmers, who had worked for months, were just days away from bringing their harvest home. Unfortunately, an accidental fire turned their hopes into ashes, destroying nearly 100 acres of maize crops. The incident in Kangutta village, Adilabad district, left farmers in deep sorrow. The fire broke out accidentally in the maize fields of Kangutta. With the scorching heat and strong winds, the flames spread quickly, engulfing hundreds of acres within minutes. Starting in Kangutta, the fire soon spread to neighbouring Sakera village fields. Since the crops were fully dried and ready for harvest, the flames rose even higher.

The absence of a fire engine in the constituency center and the shortage of harvesters worsened the tragedy. Farmers, waiting for their turn to harvest due to machine scarcity, were caught off guard by the sudden blaze. As a result, more than 40 farmers in Kangutta lost their entire yield.

Locals and farmers immediately informed the fire department and police. Firefighters rushed to the spot but arrived late. With the help of fire engines, officials, farmers, and villagers worked together to control the flames and prevent them from spreading to nearby fields. Despite their efforts, the damage was extensive.

In recent days, repeated fire accidents across the united Adilabad district have left farmers anxious and distressed. Many are now appealing to the government to provide relief and support to those who lost their crops.
