India - B’hand worst hit by hailstorm and thundershower

Following Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's instruction, the state's 75 districts conducted a survey of crop losses caused by hailstorms and thundershowers between March 1 and March 3 and submitted the report to the UP relief commissioner office.

According to the report, at least four persons lost their lives due to lightning on March 3. One person each from Lakhimpur Kheri, Hardoi, Sitapur, and Shahjahanpur were reported as victims of lightning.

Further districts like Agra, Aligarh, Budaun, Baghpat, Bulandshahar, Farrukhabad, Fatehpur, Hapur, Kasganj, Mainpuri and Shahjahanpur recorded crop losses between 5% and 15 %.

While districts like Amethi, Etah, Ghazipur, Gorakhpur, Hardoi, Kaushambi, Meerut, and Sambhal recorded crop damage of less than 33%.

In Banda district, Attarra tehsil recorded 30% crop loss of mustard, pea and gram; 17 villages in Naraini tehsil registered complete crop loss; 13 villages in Pallani tehsil recorded 45% losses and three villages in Baberu tehsil recorded 33% loss.

In Basti district, 35 villages registered over 33% crop loss. In Chitrakoot district, Manikpur and Rajapur tehsils recorded 33% crop loss. In Jalaun district, Sadar, Orai, Kalpi, Konch, and Madhogarh tehsils registered over 33% crop loss in 323 villages.

Similarly, in Jhansi district, 32 villages recorded over 33% crop loss. In Lalitpur district, Sadar, Talbehat, Mehrauni, Pali tehsils recorded up to 42% crop loss in 85 villages. In Mahoba district, Sadar, Charkhari and Kulpahar tehsils recorded up to 45% crop loss in 93 villages.

In Saharanpur district, Deoband and Sadar tehsils recorded over 33% crop loss in 62 villages, while in Shamli district, Kairana, Shamli and Unn tehsils registered over 33% crop loss in 29 villages. In Bindki tehsil of Fatehpur district, 10 villages suffered 33% loss.

Around 51 villages in Hamirpur also suffered 33% loss in crops due to hailstorm and heavy rain. Some 23 villages of Rasulabad tehsil in Kanpur Dehat district and 27 villages in Bhillaur of Kanpur Nagar district suffered 33% losses.
