India - Cyclone Michaung causes damage to crops in Andhra Pradesh

Heavy rainfall with strong gales over the last two days dumped by cyclone Michaung dealt a blow to farmers in parts of Andhra Pradesh as agricultural and horticultural crops in thousands of hectares were damaged.

However, the officials will enumerate the crop loss once the weather system weakens.

As of now a 4-year-old boy identified as Yashwanth, a resident of Chindepalli ST colony at Yerpesu mandal in Tirupati district died after his house wall dampened in the incessant rains came down crashing on him on Sunday.

The farmers said that the heavy rains and gales damaged the paddy, banana and many horticultural crops in Nellore, Tirupati, Parkasam, Bapatla, NTR, Krishna and few other districts.
