The cyclone and heavy rain that hit several villages in Bidar assembly constituency on Saturday night completely destroyed the sugarcane crop of farmers, causing a loss of lakhs of rupees. In this context, Bharatiya Janata Party Bidar assembly constituency leader Ishwar Singh Thakur visited the affected villages and inspected the crop damage.

Visiting Mirzapur K village, Ishwar Singh Thakur observed that the sugarcane crop grown in various survey numbers including about 3 acres in survey number 1 of the village, about 4 acres in survey number 77, 1 acre in survey number 46 and 1 acre in survey number 35 had completely collapsed. Farmers lamented that they have suffered huge financial losses due to heavy winds and rain.

Later, he also visited Kapalapur (J) village and inspected the fields of several farmers. Seeing that the sugarcane crop that the farmers had grown with great difficulty was completely damaged, he demanded that the authorities take immediate action.

Speaking to the Agriculture Department officials and Tehsildars over the phone, Ishwar Singh Thakur directed them to conduct a comprehensive survey on the crop loss in all the villages affected by the rain and submit a report to the government. He also demanded that action be taken to ensure that the farmers get immediate compensation.

"If the authorities do not submit a report on the losses of the farmers immediately and provide appropriate compensation, we will fight for the rights of the farmers," he warned.

BJP leader Sandeep Patil, farmers Govinda Rao, Prakash Pandre, Tukaram, Vasant Malegaon, Shivanand Male, Anil Nagonde, Shri Dattu Hunsagunde, Pundalik and other farmers whose crops were damaged were present on the occasion.
