Japan commits to expanding Kingdom’s agricultural market

The Agricultural Production Bureau of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan, Friday committed to strengthening bilateral trade with the Ministry of Commerce (MoC) through the expansion of the market accessibility for the Kingdom’s agricultural products.

The commitment was made by Hiroaki Sato, Chief of the Section of the Grain Trade and Operations Division within the Agricultural Production Bureau of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan during the meeting with Samheng Bora, Secretary of State of MoC and also Chairman of the Export Promotion Task Force, held in Tokyo on January 24.

At the discussion table, Sato underlined the importance of adhering to Japan’s import standards, reaffirming Japan’s commitment to strengthening bilateral trade relations and supporting Cambodia in improving market access for its agricultural products.

Takuyu Ajiro, Deputy Director General of the Produce Department at Overseas Merchandise Inspection Co Ltd (OMIC), provided an overview of his company’s rigorous inspection processes, emphasising their role in guaranteeing that imported agricultural products align with Japanese regulations and consumer expectations.

According to MoC announcement yesterday, the meeting was organised to discuss the import procedures and ensure full compliance with Japan’s stringent safety and quality standards.
