Continuous heavy rain sparked a flash flood in Kampung Kuala Namadan on Monday afternoon after Sungai Pegalan overflowed its banks.

The 4pm incident saw river levels rise rapidly before inundating nearby agricultural land.

According to early reports from the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK), the flood affected paddy fields belonging to residents Denesius Untan and Peter Modisir.

Fast-flowing mud and sediment are expected to threaten crop yields if floodwaters do not recede soon.

Local authorities are assessing the extent of damage while advising residents in low-lying areas near the riverbanks to remain vigilant amid unpredictable weather.
