Jose Mai, Minister of Agriculture, Food Security, and Enterprise, emphasized the remarkable growth of Belize’s agricultural sector on Wednesday, May 28, during the 2025 Budget Debate in the House of Representatives at Independence Hill in Belmopan.
He pointed to significant investments in crop production, agro-processing, and expanding exports that have strengthened Belize’s agricultural economy.
Minister Mai stated that agriculture’s contribution to Belize’s economy had expanded by over 50% in just four years, reaching $842.4 million in 2024.
He credited the success to PlanBelize’s Farm to Table strategy, which has encouraged confidence in the sector and attracted investments in processing facilities for poultry, dairy, soybean meal, coconut products, and more.
