Moldova’s agriculture grew by about 14% in 2025, against the backdrop of the advancement of plant production

Last year, the agricultural production in Moldova recorded an increase of approximately 14%. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, the growth was driven by an over 21% increase in plant production, while animal production decreased, reports IPN.

BNS data shows that plant production has come to represent 74% of total agricultural production in 2025. Last year was marked by significant increases in the main crops: rapeseed production increased about 3.4 times, sunflower by 35.7%, and cereals and legumes for grains by 27%.

Also, the grape harvest was 13% higher, and the potato one – almost 10% higher. The production of fruits, nuts and berries, as well as vegetables, increased by about 6%. On the other hand, the sugar beet registered a decrease of almost 20%, and the food melon crops decreased by about 5%.

In the livestock sector, BNS mentions that animal production decreased by 5.4% in 2025. At the same time, milk production recorded an increase of about 6%, and egg production – by 1.4%. At the beginning of the current year, the number of pigs decreased by about 24%, and that of cattle by 3%, while the bird population increased by approximately 21%.
