Poland's Tauron to supply clean power to aluminium, agricultural cos

Polish utility Tauron Polska Energia (WSE:TPE) will supply renewable energy to aluminium profiles maker Grupa Kety and agricultural BZK Group under power purchase agreements (PPAs) tailored to their needs.

Grupa Kęty will receive nearly 200 GWh annually for the next four years under a physical sleeved PPA, where a selected portion of the electricity comes directly from a specific wind farm.

Thanks to the agreement, Grupa Kęty will be able to flexibly plan its energy demand and jointly balance all companies within the group. The contract allows for the addition of renewable energy sources and the division of the portfolio into two streams -- some energy will be purchased on a market basis, while the remainder will come directly from a specific wind farm.

The agricultural and food processing BZK Group will be powered by green energy from an 80 MW photovoltaic (PV) farm using the off-site PPA model under which the electricity flows to the customer via the distribution network. Such a formula ensures the company benefits from green energy throughout the contract term.

The utility's trader, Tauron Sprzedaz, sells electricity to individual and business customers, serving nearly 6 million nationwide. The company offers energy from its own renewable sources, as well as services and technologies in photovoltaics, energy storage, heating and energy efficiency improvement.
