Ukraine - State compensates farmers up to 60% of crop insurance cost

The Ministry of Economy of Ukraine is launching a large-scale program to support agricultural producers. Now the state will reimburse part of the costs of insuring grain crops, which is especially relevant for farms in the combat zone and near-frontline territories. This information became known from the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine.

The program is aimed at protecting wheat, barley, and rye crops from climatic risks. Farmers can insure winter crops, the spring-summer period, or the full annual cycle.

The percentage of insurance premium reimbursement depends on the location of the farm:

Near-frontline regions: the state returns 60% of the insurance cost.

Other regions of Ukraine: compensation is 45%.

The program focuses on weather factors that can destroy crops:

Winterkill and ice crust formation.

The need for reseeding due to unfavorable conditions.

Spring frosts, drought, or excessive precipitation.

The key feature of the program is the strict selection of insurers. Currently, only three companies with impeccable reputations and confirmed experience of real payments to farmers are allowed to participate. This guarantees farmers a 100% refund in case of an insurance event.

How to get compensation:

Choosing a company: Sign a contract with one of the authorized insurers.

Payment: Pay the insurance premium.

Document submission: Provide proof of payment to the insurance company.

Payment: The insurer submits the data to the Ministry of Economy, which transfers the funds directly to the farmer’s account.

Documents are accepted three times a year according to the vegetation cycles:

By April 10th

By August 10th

By November 20th

Payments are made within a month after the completion of each stage of application acceptance.
