Not only did the explosion at the Kahovka Hydroelectric Power Station have terrible consequences for Ukrainians, primarily reflected in the prices of products, but also the weather conditions have led to a significantly lower yield of vegetables and fruits.
In particular, the apricot harvest has also suffered, as reported by the head of the agrometeorology department at the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, Tetiana Adamenko. This happened for two reasons – frost and fungal diseases.
“Stone fruit trees that bloom early, such as apricots, were impacted because there were many touches of frost, and fungal diseases attack this type of fruit,” the statement reads.
Currently, the minimum price for apricots has reached 1.35 euros per kilogram, and the average price is 1.47 euros. The maximum price to be paid is 2 euros, according to the Kyiv “Stolichny Market” data.
