“The parties discussed specific proposals to increase the volume and range of agricultural products sold by the countries," the press service of the Agriculture and Food Ministry informed. “In 2024, Belarus exported skimmed milk powder and imported citrus fruits and flowers. Meanwhile, the prospects for co-operation are much broader.”
As recalled by the source, the Zimbabwean side inspected Belarusian dairy processing enterprises in March 2024, and all of them were allowed to export dairy products to Zimbabwe. A veterinary certificate for such supplies was agreed upon as well. Belarusian companies are currently working on packaging and logistics issues to enter the country's market.
"We are ready not only to ensure the existing supplies but also move forward and export more dairy products, including baby food. Partnership in other areas is to be further developed as well,” Mr. Gorlov stressed.
In turn, Mr. Haritatos highly appreciated the level of training of specialists and the organisation of production processes in Belarus. “Zimbabwe needs 130m litres of milk annually, and we now produce 120m litres. This indicates that this product is needed in our country. We are also interested in buying sunflower oil and agricultural machinery,” he said.
The Zimbabwean guest added that his country is likely to be recognised as a state that has fully ensured domestic food security this year. According to him, the mechanisation of agriculture, including the use of Belarusian machinery, has significantly contributed to the result. “It was thanks to Belarusian technology, its productivity and our co-operation that we realised how valuable our land is and how much benefit it can bring. We must continue to work together, develop co-operation to achieve even greater results,” he said.
