Nearly 549 farmers in Hambantota district whose cultivations were destroyed due to floods during the last Maha season and who had got their crop cultivations insured with the Crop Cultivation Insurance Board, have not been paid their insurance compensation yet, farmers said. They said the relevant officials who visited their paddy fields that were destroyed, have forwarded documents to the relevant authorities, but payments of compensation still remain unpaid due to reasons unknown.
