Farmers across the area are getting more help from the federal government after losing many of their crops nearly two years ago.
Starting 22 July, farmers will be able to apply for retroactive disaster insurance. The program allows farmers who did not have insurance during the 2012 deep freeze to apply for back pay. Farmers in 51 counties including Genesee, Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Wayne and Yates are eligible to receive up to $125,000 in assistance.
Applications must be submitted by September 22, 2014.
