The Bihar government has announced financial assistance for farmers affected by crop losses under the Bihar State Crop Assistance Scheme. The Cooperation Department has invited applications from farmers for the Rabi 2025-26 season, and submissions are completely free of charge.

The scheme covers notified crops including wheat, maize, sugarcane, potato, brinjal, tomato, cauliflower, arhar (pigeon pea), chickpea, lentils, onion, mustard, and chili. Farmers experiencing up to 20% crop damage will receive ₹7,500 per hectare, while those with more than 20% loss will get ₹10,000 per hectare. Under this scheme, a single farmer can claim compensation for a maximum of 2 hectares.

The assistance is available to raiyat (tenant) farmers, non-raiyat farmers, and those falling under a partially tenant/non-tenant category. Additionally, farmers from municipal council or municipal area regions are also eligible to apply. Farmers can select more than one crop when submitting applications.

Application Deadlines:

The Cooperation Minister, Dr. Pramod Kumar, emphasized that the state government remains committed to protecting farmers’ interests. “Through the Bihar State Crop Assistance Scheme, farmers will receive timely and transparent financial support in case of crop loss, ensuring their livelihoods are protected and they can continue agricultural activities with confidence,” he said.

How to Apply:

Registered farmers can apply directly via the Agriculture Department’s DBT portal. While applying, farmers need to provide details about the crop and sown area, and upload two to three geotagged photographs of the cultivated land. The Bihar State Crop Assistance Scheme aims to provide rapid financial relief to farmers, strengthen agricultural resilience, and safeguard rural livelihoods across the state.
