India - Climate has heavy impact on saffron mango fruit

Somnath farmers are unhappy despite the fact that their saffron mangoes blooming on time. In the past few days, the abundant dew has turned the blooms black. Due to the strange weather, Gir is witnessing a double season.

Talala, Kodinar and Gir-Gahda area of Gir-Somnath are the stronghold of saffron mango. The saffron mangoes here are praised in the country and abroad. There are thousands of hectares of saffron mango orchards in Gir area. Hundreds of farmers are dependent on the horticultural cultivation of this saffron mango. But due to the effect of global warming, the production of saffron mango has been decreasing gradually for the last five years.
