From overflowing culverts to damaged roads and crop loss, last week’s heavy rain caused extensive damage in some villages across Sanguem.
In Margawada, small culverts began to overflow and the gushing waters almost washed off the road, rendering it unmotorable for vehicular traffic.
Stating that the damage has left underground electricity cables dangerously exposed, Margawada panch R Naik has requested the authorities concerned to urgently attend to the matter.
The paddy crop of many farmers too was damaged, just when it was ready to be harvested.
The talathi has inspected the damaged fields and will soon submit a report to the mamlatdar and the agriculture department to enable farmers to avail of compensation for crop loss, Naik said.
