Nepal - Insurance Authority conducts interaction on agriculture, livestock and herbs insurance

The Insurance Authority of Nepal (BEE) has organized a discussion and interaction program with the representatives of the insurance companies on agriculture, livestock and medicinal herbs insurance. The programme was held at the central office of NRA, Kupandole, Lalitpur.

The program has been organized with the objective of seeking suggestions from the insurers regarding the timely revision of the Agriculture, Livestock and Herbs Insurance Directive-2079 BS and the draft of the Damage Assessor Directive that the Authority is going to manage for the first time.

Extensive discussion was held on the amendment draft of the Agriculture, Livestock and Herbs Insurance Directive-2079 and the draft of the Damage Assessor Directive presented by the NRA.

Similarly, suggestions were also taken from the representatives of the insurers regarding the provision of recommendation for the grant to be provided by the Government of Nepal and the existing status of operation of the Agriculture Insurance Real Time Software (ALIS), the problems faced and the steps to be taken to resolve them.

On the occasion, Executive Director of the Insurance Authority, Sushil Dev Subedi, said that the authority was going to revise the Agriculture, Livestock and Herbs Insurance Directive-2079 as per the timelines.

Managing Director Subedi informed that the NRA is bringing a directive on damage assessor for the first time and urged them to give concrete suggestions for the same.

He also informed that the draft of the guidelines will be finalized by incorporating the suggestions received from the insurers.

Directors of Nepal Insurance Authority, employees of Agriculture Insurance Section of NEA and Heads of Agriculture Department of non-life insurance companies were present in the program.
