The announcement was made by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri during a recent stakeholders’ meeting with farmers’ associations, local government representatives, and agricultural experts in Yola, the state capital.

Naija247news gathered that the investment is part of the state’s broader agricultural transformation agenda, which aims to support smallholder farmers with improved seeds, fertilizers, herbicides, and mechanized tools ahead of the 2025 planting season.

According to Naija247news, Governor Fintiri stated that the initiative was designed to not only increase food supply but also reduce the financial burden on farmers who continue to struggle with high input costs due to inflation and supply chain disruptions.

Naija247news understands that over 50,000 farmers across the 21 local government areas of Adamawa will benefit from the first phase of the intervention. The distribution is expected to be coordinated through local cooperatives to ensure equitable access and transparency.

“We cannot afford to play politics with food production,” Governor Fintiri said. “This N2 billion investment reflects our commitment to food security, youth employment, and economic stability in the state.”
