The Adamawa State Government has approved over N26 billion for capital projects aimed at improving road infrastructure, boosting agricultural productivity, and strengthening essential public services across the state.

The approval was given at Thursday’s State Executive Council meeting, presided over by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri at the new Council Chamber in Government House, Yola.

Briefing journalists after the meeting, Commissioner for Information and Strategy, James Iliya, outlined the key projects, including major road construction and rehabilitation across several local government areas.

According to him, N3.89 billion was allocated for the construction of the 11.2-kilometre Plum Road in Michika LGA, while N6.59 billion was approved for extending the asphalt overlay on the Mubi–Garta–Kamale Road to 17.5 kilometres.

In Madagali, the 14-kilometre Sukur Road will undergo a N4.43 billion upgrade, and N3.24 billion was earmarked for asphalting the 10.3-kilometre Kishinga Road.

“These road projects are expected to significantly improve connectivity and stimulate socio-economic development in the affected areas,” Iliya stated.

In the agricultural sector, the council approved N1.5 billion for the purchase of NPK fertilizer to support dry season farming, and N1.73 billion for the acquisition of 22 Massey Ferguson tractors and accessories to promote mechanized farming across the state.

Other approvals include N460 million for the accreditation of nine academic programmes at the College of Agriculture, Science and Technology, Ganye; N256 million as 20 percent counterpart funding for the 2025 Basic Health Care Provision Fund; and N235.6 million for compensation to landowners affected by the Federal University of Agriculture project in Mubi.

The council also approved N481 million for the upgrade of the Jada water supply scheme and N328.5 million for the purchase of a modern road sweeping truck to strengthen environmental sanitation.

Iliya said the sweeping investments reflect the Fintiri administration’s commitment to infrastructure expansion, agricultural advancement, and improved public service delivery in Adamawa.

“These projects underscore the government’s resolve to transform the state through strategic investments that directly impact the lives and livelihoods of our citizens,” he added.
