Special Assistant to Chief Minister of Sindh for Investment and Public-Private Partnership Syed Qasim Naveed Qamar visited Rawah Farms in Gharo, Thatta on Friday. The farm is home to one of the country’s pioneering shrimp farming ventures, supported by the Sindh government through the Sindh Enterprise Development Fund (SEDF).
The ambitious aquaculture project spans 600 acres and, once fully operational, is expected to create more than 500 direct jobs and generate over $100 million in export revenue.
During the visit, Qamar reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting Rawah Farms and other aquaculture initiatives in Sindh. He also announced plans for the creation of a special aquaculture zone in the province aimed at boosting the fishing and shrimp sectors.
Accompanying the visit were key stakeholders, including CEO of SEDF Khizar Pervaiz; CEO of Sindh Economic Zone Management Company (SEZMC) Abdul Azeem Uqali; and representatives from Ernst & Young, who engaged in discussions surrounding the future of the Rawah Farms project.
