Technology becomes a key ally for sustainability, and a deforestation-free agriculture.

Peru promotes digital transformation of its agriculture to become more competitive, as technology becomes a key ally for sustainability, and a deforestation-free agriculture, highlighted the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (Midagri).

As part of the International Agrotechnologies Congress (CONIAGRO 2025), Midagri presented the progress of the Agricultural Producers Registry (PPA) and the AgroDigital mobile application as strategic tools for the modernization of Peruvian agriculture.

During his presentation, the General Director of Statistics, Cesar Santisteban Perez, highlighted that the PPA allows for evidence-based decision-making, service segmentation, and improved effectiveness of rural public policies.

He also introduced AgroDigital, an app that integrates functionalities such as crop geolocation, satellite monitoring, price consultations, and access to agricultural supplies and services.

This tool also facilitates compliance with the European Union’s Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), allowing the generation of free geolocated reports to verify that crops do not come from deforested areas.

The EUDR, which will come into force in 2026, will require products such as coffee, cacao, palm oil, beef, soy, wood, and rubber to enter the European Union under three conditions: they must be deforestation-free, comply with the legislation of the producing country, and provide a due diligence declaration.

With these innovations, Midagri reaffirms its commitment to a more modern, inclusive, and sustainable agriculture, strengthening the relationship between the government, producers, and technology.
