Typhoon Neneng (international name: Nesat) left an estimated total of P366,058,240.16 worth of damage to agriculture, said the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC) on Wednesday.

The latest estimation from the NRDDMC is a significant leap from the agency’s report on Tuesday, which previously put agricultural damage to be worth P7,687,525.38.

The NDRRMC said that 14,578 farmers have been affected, and 19,167.29 hectares of crops were damaged by Neneng.

Cagayan Valley suffered the greatest agricultural loss among affected provinces in northern Luzon, with NDRRMC estimating their damage to cost P354,499,525.78.

Meanwhile, the number of affected persons has also increased since NDRRMC’s Tuesday report, from 103,662 individuals to 175,275 on Wednesday. Only two people were reported injured and there are no recorded deaths or missing persons, the agency said.

In terms of infrastructure, Neneng’s damage cost P81,555,000, said the NDRRMC. Power shortages are still affecting 13 areas, while seven roads and seven bridges remain unpassable.

The NDRRMC reported that P15,347,070.07 worth of assistance has been provided to affected areas.

While northern Luzon is still reeling from Neneng, Tropical Depression Obet is forecast to intensify as it nears the area by Friday or Saturday, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.
