The Agricultural and Agrarian Insurance Board Agricultural insurance board begins damage assessments for Maha season crop losseshas announced that damage assessment activities have commenced in several districts to facilitate the release of compensation to farmers affected by crop damage during the 2025/2026 Maha season.
In a recent statement, the Board confirmed that field officers attached to district offices have begun evaluating the extent of damage in affected areas.
Currently, assessments are underway in the districts of Polonnaruwa, Badulla, and Anuradhapura, with officials working to complete these evaluations soon.
Once the damage assessments are finalized, the Board will seek recommendations from the Department of Agrarian Development.
Following this, the appropriate compensation will be disbursed promptly to farmers based on the actual extent of their crop losses, ensuring timely support for those impacted by the adverse conditions during this planting season.
