During the first decade of March, there was still ground frost in most of the territory of Dnipropetrovsk region, by the end of the decade the ground thawed completely. This was reported by the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Hydrometeorological Center on Facebook.

“No plant losses were found, but in some farms in the central and eastern regions, the loss of underdeveloped winter wheat plants from autumn ranged from 10-30% of the total. In the northwest, during the regrowth of samples with winter rapeseed and winter barley, up to 100% plant loss was detected,” the department noted.

They explained that the warm weather of the decade contributed to the spring awakening of winter crops, but their growth processes did not resume.

The average air temperature in the region at the beginning of March was 2°C above normal, ranging from +3 to +4°C.

“There were no precipitation in the south and east of the region, in the rest of the territory, in some days there were slight precipitation in the form of rain and wet snow ranging from 0.1-1 mm, while the decade norm is 12 mm. The wind was mostly moderate northwesterly. The maximum wind speed did not exceed 10-13 m/s,” summarized the meteorologists.
