Uzbek Minister of Agriculture Ibrokhim Abdurakhmonov has held a working meeting with Ben Bradshaw, Assistant Vice-President for International Cooperation at the University of Guelph (Canada), to discuss prospects for joint scientific research.
During the talks, the sides discussed the introduction of innovative approaches, and ways to ensure the sustainable development of the agricultural sector, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.
Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of integrating science and practical application to effectively address current challenges facing agriculture.
Following the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan, the University of Guelph, and agro-industrial company YASHIL SAHRO. The document establishes a solid legal framework for long-term and systematic cooperation in the agricultural sphere.
The memorandum provides for agro-ecological research, the application of scientific developments in practice, the use of modern technologies and advanced expertise, as well as the training of qualified specialists and knowledge exchange between the partners.
Officials noted that such international projects contribute to the sustainable development of Uzbekistan’s agriculture, help maintain environmental balance, and strengthen the scientific capacity of the sector, reinforcing the country’s long-term food security and innovation goals.
