India - Governor of Tripura Visits ICAR-KVK, Dhalai to Promote Agricultural Innovation and Community Support

Governor N. Indrasena Reddy visited ICAR-KVK, Dhalai, promoting agricultural innovation and community support through initiatives in crop production, fisheries, and dairy. His visit highlighted KVK's contributions to enhancing local farmers' livelihoods and sustainable practices in Tripura.

In a significant visit aimed at promoting agricultural innovation and bolstering local farming communities, N. Indrasena Reddy, the Governor of Tripura, visited the ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) in Dhalai today. Emphasizing the importance of sectors like crop production, fisheries, and dairy, Governor Reddy acknowledged KVK’s ongoing efforts to uplift farmers' livelihoods and strengthen sustainable agricultural practices in the region.

Accompanying the Governor were key district leaders, including Saju Vaheed A, IAS, District Magistrate & Collector, Dhalai; Susmita Das, Sabhadhipati of Dhalai Zilla Parishad; Swapna Das Paul, MLA from the Surma Constituency; Chitta Ranjan Debbarma, MLA from the Ambassa Constituency; Anadi Sarkar, Saha-Sabhadhipati of Dhalai Zilla Parishad; and Bina Das Biswas, Chairperson of the Salema Panchayat Samiti. Their collective presence underscored the event's significance for agricultural development in Dhalai.

The program began with a tree-planting ceremony, where Governor Reddy symbolically planted a mango sapling, symbolizing growth and sustainability. Following this, he inaugurated various stalls that showcased local agricultural innovations, models, and value-added millet products produced by Self-Help Groups (SHGs). MLAs Swapna Das Paul and Chitta Ranjan Debbarma commended the KVK's contributions, encouraging the organization to continue advancing innovations that directly benefit the farming community.

During his visit, Governor Reddy explored key units at the KVK, including the Paddy Demonstration Unit, Pineapple Crop Unit, Horticulture Plant Production Unit, Mushroom Spawn Production Laboratory, Poultry Hatchery Unit, and Millet Processing Units. Other stops included the Ornamental Fish Breeding Unit, District Soil Testing Laboratory, Weather Station, and Integrated Farming Units, where he engaged with KVK scientists and received updates on agricultural advancements.

The day concluded with a collaborative meeting between the Governor, KVK scientists, District Magistrate, MLAs, and officials, reinforcing the commitment to sustainable agriculture and community development in Tripura.
