Haryana Agriculture Minister Shyam Singh Rana assured farmers that the supply of di-ammonium phosphate (DAP) fertiliser in the state is sufficient and continuous.

Criticising opposition parties for spreading misinformation, Rana highlighted the government's dedication to providing timely fertiliser supplies and smooth crop procurement. He refuted Congress leaders' claims of a DAP shortage, stating that the state currently has 23,748 tonnes of DAP in stock, with an additional 9,519 tonnes expected by November 15.

Rana held a meeting with department officers to ensure all farmers receive DAP. He emphasised that no land will remain unsown due to a lack of DAP, assuring farmers of an adequate and uninterrupted supply. "There is no shortage of DAP for our farmers," he stated. Meanwhile, Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda alleged that despite government claims, farmers have not received even half the fertiliser needed compared to demand.

Opposition Criticism and Government Response

Hooda claimed that due to fertiliser shortages, DAP is being distributed at police stations. He alleged that farmers wait in long queues without receiving fertilisers while DAP is sold on the black market. Senior Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala also blamed the ruling BJP for the DAP shortage. The opposition has intensified its criticism of the Nayab Singh Saini government ahead of the winter assembly session starting Wednesday.

An official statement indicated that Haryana's DAP stock aligns with demand, similar to last year's consumption levels. In the previous Rabi season, 2,29,086 MT of DAP was used. By November 11 this year, the state had received 1,86,658 MT, including an initial stock of 53,970 MT as of October 1.

Fertiliser Consumption and Procurement Efforts

Minister Rana reported that from November 1 to 10 this year, Haryana's total DAP consumption was 53,164 MT compared to 32,441 MT during the same period last year. Besides DAP, Haryana's farmers use various fertilisers like NPK (Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Potassium) and Single Super Phosphate (SSP). This year, 65,200 MT of NPK was received with 23,749 MT currently in stock statewide.

Rana criticised Congress's track record, asserting that during their tenure, farmers struggled to sell produce without sufficient government support. He highlighted that Haryana is the only state ensuring procurement of all 24 crops at Minimum Support Price (MSP). Over 50 lakh MT of paddy has been procured by state agencies this season.

Ensuring Farmer Welfare and Timely Payments

Dismissing Congress claims about neglected paddy procurement, Rana stated that all produce is being bought at MSP. "Not a single farmer has been left out," he said. The government ensures payments are released within 72 hours of procurement. Over Rs 11,522 crore has been directly disbursed to farmers' bank accounts this season.

This includes Rs 10,510.79 crore for paddy and Rs 1,011.31 crore for millet. Rana reassured farmers about prompt payments and streamlined transactions. He urged opposition leaders to stop spreading false information and reiterated the BJP government's commitment to rural development and farmer welfare.
