CM Pramod Sawant today assured the house that traditional farmers growing seasonal vegetables and fruits, whose crops have been affected due to incessant rains will be given due compensation before Ganesh Chaturthi.
Farmers who do do not possess Krishi cards, do not have land in their names etc and are hence not eligible for official compensation from the agriculture dept will be provided compensation through CM Relief Fund, assured Sawant.
Zonal Agriculture Officers have already been directed to carry out surveys for evaluating crop damage for providing the compensation, he informed.
When pointed out by the opposition that many farmers have not received compensation for last years crop damage, he said it will be given to them before the end of the session i.e Aug 7.
He went on to comment that INDIA alliance has been instigating farmers in Goa and across the country against the govt.
