Vietnam’s agricultural exports are on track to set a historic record, projected at 60-61 billion USD, despite weather challenges and fluctuations in the world.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the agro-forestry-fishery sector is now focusing on further increasing product quality, aimed to enhance the value of exports. It is also making effort to expand markets, with a focus on markets of large scale.

Besides, to better meet regulations and standards of importers, Vietnam’s food processing industry is actively applying new advanced technologies, including those related to hygiene, package and storage.

In the first 9 months of this year, the country earned 46.28 billion USD from exporting agricultural, forestry and fishery products, up by 21 percent compared to the same period of last year, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

All key products reported surges, including timber and wood products, fruit and vegetables, coffee, rice, cashew nuts, and shrimp.

The US, China, and Japan continued to be the three largest export markets, with the US accounting for the highest proportion at 21.6 per cent, followed by China at 20.8 per cent and Japan at 6.6 percent./.
