Saskatchewan cattlemen are pushing for improvements to Saskatchewan forage crop insurance.
Cattlemen’s CEO Ryder Lee says producers would like to see improved moisture data collection for claim payments.
He says many cattlemen have faced two years of moisture challenges.
He says the Saskatchewan Cattlemen’s Association is looking at using satellite imagery to improve moisture information used for the forage insurance program.
Lee says producers would like to see the forage insurance better reflect yield and replacement cost of fodder.
He says the program paid out over 10 million dollars this past year.
