The fire south of Havre burned 200 acres on Saturday, according to the Bear Paw Volunteer Fire Department.
Bear Paw VFD received the call around 10:30 p.m. Resources from Bear Paw, Kremlin, and Box Elder responded.
Bear Paw VFD said that although residences and outbuildings were threatened, no structures burned.
Chris Daniel with Daniel Land and Livestock said the fire, which burned on his family’s land, was caused by lightning.
The fire burned approximately 10 miles south of Havre and three miles west of Highway 87.
No structural damage, loss of livestock, or injuries were reported.
The Daniel family expressed their gratitude for the departments, neighbors, and volunteers who responded.
“We feel very lucky, fortunate, and grateful,” Chris Daniel said. “I’d just like to reiterate that if anybody is looking for something to donate to, the volunteer fire departments are worth their weight in gold.”
