SBI General Insurance will participate in the Government of India’s ‘Meri Policy Mere Haath’ (MPMH) campaign for Kharif 2026, aimed at ensuring the direct distribution of crop insurance policy documents to farmers and strengthening awareness about the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY).
As a key implementing insurer under PMFBY, SBI General Insurance will facilitate the initiative across nine states: Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Maharashtra, Assam, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Jharkhand. The company will collaborate with state governments and local stakeholders to distribute policy documents and expand its outreach among farming communities.
The campaign will include policy distribution camps supported by Fasal Bima Pathshalas, Kisan Melas and Kisan Goshtis. SBI General Insurance will also organize two Government of India-led initiatives under PMFBY: the International Year of Women Farmers (IYWF) and PMFBY@10 Farmer Champions.
Under the IYWF initiative, specialized workshops led by women farmers will focus on educating and enrolling more women farmers under the scheme. Meanwhile, the PMFBY@10 Farmer Champions initiative will recognize beneficiaries who have been associated with the scheme over the past decade. Engagement activities and a dedicated meet will be organized across various states to recognize these farmers, share their experiences and encourage wider participation in PMFBY.
Through these activities, the insurer aims to create interactive platforms where farmers can discuss the scheme, share feedback and seek guidance, thereby strengthening their understanding of crop insurance and encouraging greater participation.
Commenting on the initiative, Naveen Chandra Jha, MD & CEO, SBI General Insurance, said, “For every farmer, knowing their crop is protected brings a sense of security that goes far beyond a policy document. Meri Policy Mere Haath is a powerful initiative that ensures this reassurance reaches them directly, strengthening trust in the crop insurance system. Through our outreach across nine states, we want farmers to feel supported, informed, and confident that PMFBY stands beside them in times of uncertainty. As their implementing insurance partner, we are committed to walking with them, shoulder to shoulder, and empowering their journey toward resilience and stability.”
With its participation in the MPMH campaign, SBI General Insurance aims to bring crop insurance information and policy documents closer to farmers while building awareness through continued engagement. The initiative reflects the company’s focus on improving farmers’ understanding of PMFBY and supporting informed decisions around protecting their livelihoods.
