India - AIC launches ‘Aquaculture Insurance’

The Agriculture Insurance Company (AIC) of India Limited launched its new product ‘Aquaculture Insurance’.


On this occasion Secretary M Nagraju of Finance Service Department, Joint Secretary Dr Prashant Kumar Goel, AIC Chairperson and Managing Director, Dr Lavanya R Mundayur, Working Director, Dasrathi Singh, Working Director, C.S Ayyapan and other officers were also present and they assured to provide security to the fish farmers against certain damages.
 

The insurance product will cover species like Silver and Grass Corp, Rohu, Katla, Mirgal, Murail, Pangasias and Trout.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Lavanya said that Aquaculture Insurance will not only reduce the difficulties of fish farmers but will increasingly work for progress in one of the agriculture fields reflecting AIC’s concern for the welfare of fish farmers (rearers).


This insurance product will improve aquaculture business by supporting small fish farmers and it will ensure food security along with good export.
A handout stated that to support Zingha farmers, recently AIC has started Zingha Insurance.
It also stated that AIC’s Aquaculture Insurance and Zingha Insurance products will help fish farmers to face natural calamities, diseases and other problems associated with aquaculture farming.
