The state government has announced a relief package of Rs 10,000 crore for farmers and the registration portal was opened on November 14 for a span of 15 days.
In the last ten days, the state government has received more than 21.70 lakh applications from farmers seeking financial assistance for crop loss due to unseasonal rains in October.

The information was shared by the state government’s spokesperson and agriculture minister Jitu Vaghani after a discussion in the state cabinet’s meeting on Tuesday.
Vaghani said, “The portal (to apply for the assistance under the relief package) has been open for 15 days from November 14. In the last ten days, our department has already received 27,70,885 applications at the district level. And the work to make the payment has been started in a phased manner while (so far) approving 1,31,439 applications.”
Vaghani added that at some places the process to deliver the money has also begun.
Vaghani said the government has also received over 2.02 lakh applications from farmers of five districts that faced crop loss due to unseasonal rain in August-September. For the crop loss during that spell of unseasonal rain, the state government announced a separate package of Rs 1,138 crore.
